Abhishek Sharma The Most Complete Opening Batter In T20s: Former RCB Captain
The opening batter recently went past the 1,000-run mark in T20Is
India opener Abhishek Sharma is going through a purple patch at the moment. He won the Player of the Series in the Asia Cup 2025, and followed that up with another such award in the T20 Internationals (T20I) against Australia, which India won 2-1.
In his 29 T20Is, he has slammed over 1,000 runs at a strike rate of nearly 190. He also has six fifties and two centuries in 28 innings, and is the No. 1-ranked batter in the shortest format.
Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and England captain Kevin Pietersen showered praise on the southpaw, calling him the most complete T20 opener.
"Not surprised at all by this. Abhishek is the most complete opening batter in T20 cricket. Fearless, courageous and talented!" Pietersen wrote on X.
Abhishek made his debut against Zimbabwe in July 2024 and, since then, is just one among seven batters to have scored over 1,000 runs in the format.
He will next be in action in the T20I series against South Africa at home, starting December 9.
