Adam Gilchrist names his IPL all-time XI, leaves out Rashid Khan

Gilchrist named MS Dhoni as the wicketkeeper of his all-time XI

On September 20 (Friday), yesteryear superstar Adam Gilchrist named his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI, where he didn’t name T20 superstar Rashid Khan. On Cricket.com's 'Unwind', Gilchrist named hard-hitting Chris Gayle as the opener alongside the six-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma

Gayle, who played 13 seasons of IPL, was truly a benchmark for aggressive openers, scoring 4965 runs at a staggering strike rate of 148.96. During his time, Gayle also won the Orange Cap twice in two years while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2011 and 12.

The former Australian wicketkeeper batter named the IPL superstar Virat Kohli at No. 3, followed by fellow southpaw Suresh Raina at No.4. Raina was part of CSK’s IPL-winning campaigns in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.

Gilchrist named another RCB superstar, AB de Villiers, at No.5, but the first-choice wicketkeeper was five-time IPL-winning skipper MS Dhoni. In the all-rounders' segment, the 2009 IPL-winning captain picked CSK stars Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo.

Talking about Bravo’s inclusion, “His IPL records must be pretty good; he’s won quite a few titles.”

Mumbai Indians’ duo of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah were the frontline pacers of Gilchrist’s all-time IPL XI, while Yuzvendra Chahal was the only specialist spinner.

Gilchrist’s all-time IPL XI: Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Yuzvendra Chahal, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah,

12th man: Rashid Khan
