With the ongoing border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the latter’s cricket board, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), decided that they would not tour Pakistan for a T20I tri-series involving Sri Lanka.
As a replacement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to rope in Zimbabwe as the third team for the series starting November 17th. The final of the three-team affair will take place on November 29.
The withdrawal from Afghanistan was prompted by an alleged bombing by Pakistani security forces that killed three aspiring club cricketers of the country.
While Afghanistan are on a tour of Zimbabwe where they will be playing a one-off Test and three T20Is at Harare, Pakistan are currently hosting South Africa for a two-match Test series.
The Tests will be followed by six white ball games divided between three ODIs and three T20Is, with the tour coming to an end on November 8th.
Sri Lanka, the third team in the fray, will tour Pakistan for a three-match ODI series, which will be followed by the three T20Is.
