1322 runs at an average of 57.47, Yashasvi Jaiswal is a beast in Indian conditions.
Before the first Test in Kolkata against South Africa, Jaiswal had three hundreds and seven half-centuries at home, and never got out for two low scores at home. But during the run chase, the left-hander suffered a rare failure at home, getting out for a four-ball duck.
It was a rare failure for Jaiswal at home, as the left-hander had never before been dismissed for a duck in a home Test, with Marco Jansen prizing out his wicket. Jaiswal didn’t do much in the first innings either, scoring just 12, and got out to Jansen on that occasion too. It's the lowest aggregate in a Test for Jaiswal.
Before this, Jaiswal’s lowest aggregate score in a Test was 13, which he scored against England at Lord’s. It was also the first time in a decade that the Indian openers could only manage one run in between them, as Rahul also got out soon after, as India were effectively 1/3, chasing 124.
