Pradosh Ranjan Paul of Tamil Nadu had started his red-ball career in a brilliant manner as he had slammed a half century in his maiden outing against Delhi. Even when he got his chance for India A, Paul smashed a 163 in his maiden outing, reaffirming his potential as a long-term prospect in red-ball cricket.
However, what eluded him was his maiden double ton in red-ball cricket and the Tamil Nadu-born made sure that it no longer remained a wish list as he hit an unbeaten 201 against Nagaland on October 26 (Sunday), Day 2 of a group A encounter of the second-round of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 at Bengaluru.
Paul, who averages fifty with six centuries and eight half centuries to his name in red-ball cricket over the course of 28 matches, hit 23 fours in his 314-ball knock. En route, the left-handed number three batter added 307 runs for the second wicket with Vimal Khumar.
At the end of Day 2, Tamil Nadu remained in the lead by 362 runs after declaring at 512/3 getting Nagaland four down at 150.
Paul will be looking to create more magic this season after finding his mojo and hopes to force his way into the national side which is seeing a crisis at number three spot.
