Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener Aiden Markram is having a phenomenal Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 22 (Tuesday), the South African batter slammed his fourth fifty of the season - the most he has scored in a single edition of IPL.
Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2022, Markram hit 381 runs in 12 innings at an average of 47.63 and a strike rate of 139.1. However, in the last two seasons, Markram only managed two 50-plus scores.
In IPL 2025, the 30-year-old has already smashed 326 in nine innings, while averaging 36.22 and striking at above 150. This is Markram’s fifth IPL season, and he has never ever operated at a strike rate of more than 140.
Markram started the IPL 2025 with scores of 15 and 1 but has been fantastic since then. Before tonight, Markram had scores of 66, 6, 58, 47, 53 and 28 in his last six innings.
The right-hander from South Africa looked in solid touch from the word go against DC. Markram announced his arrival with an authoritative pull for a six off Mitchell Starc.
While his partner Mitchell Marsh was slightly sedate with his approach in the powerplay, Markram scored 30 off 20 and made sure LSG crossed the 50-run mark by the end of six overs.
Only Gujarat Titans (GT)’s Sai Sudharsan has more 50-plus scores (5) than Markram in the IPL 2025. In fact, all of LSG’s top-three batters - Mitchell Marsh, Markram and Nicholas Pooran - have four 50-plus scores in the IPL 2025.
Markram scored 52 off 33 deliveries before falling to Dushmantha Chameera.
