After his heroics in the second Test at Edgbaston, Akash Deep is once again in the headlines for all the right reasons, having stolen the limelight on day three of the fifth Test at The Oval.
The shock here, however, lies in the fact that Akash Deep has rocked England with the bat in hand. Indeed, sent in as a nightwatcher late on day two, the right-hander played an extraordinary hand in the first session of day three as he hammered 66 off 94 balls to stun the hosts.
He became only the second Indian nightwatcher this century, after Amit Mishra, to post a Test fifty.
On the back of his half-century today, Akash Deep ended up achieving an INCREDIBLY RARE FEAT achieved by only one other man this entire century — Shane Warne. That’s right, the 28-year-old is only the second man this century to both score a fifty and take a 10-wicket haul in England as an opposition player.

In fact, there are only five instances of an Asian player achieving this double in a SENA country. Akash Deep is the first Asian to do it since the turn of the century.

Fair to say, it’s been a series to remember for the Bengal speedster.
