Ravichandran Ashwin had a poor Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he picked up just seven wickets at 40.42. He has bounced back in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), however, where he is leading Dindigul Dragons, and has shown his prowess not just with the ball but also with the bat.
His performances in the tournament have certainly given him hope with the IPL trade rumours of him potentially moving out of CSK to make way for Sanju Samson.
Ashwin made a big statement, slamming 83 off just 48 deliveries - his highest score in the TNPL. Moreover, he also finished with 3/28 in the same match against Trichy Grand Cholas in the Eliminator in Dindigul.
This was his sixth TNPL fifty and also the fifth time he has picked up three wickets in an innings in the tournament. Riding on Ashwin's all-round show, the Dragons pulled off a six-wicket victory and will now face Chepauk Super Gillies in Qualifier 2 on July 4 (Friday) in Dindigul.
Ashwin has 12 wickets in eight matches in the tournament so far, and with the bat, he has slammed 275 runs at a strike rate of 162.7.
