Amazon likely to pull out of IPL media rights: Reports
The auction for IPL media rights will be held on June 12, with Reliance and Walt Disney emerging as top contenders
The broadcast right for the next five years of the Indian Premier League will be up for grabs, and according to reports, Amazon, one of the favourites, have pulled out of the race.
The IPL media rights had been estimated to fetch around 7.7 billion. While there is no official confirmation on the same, Mint reported about the possibility of them pulling out of the bidding way days ahead of the auction.
Amazon, along with the Reliance group, were one of the top contenders to stream the IPL matches for the next five years. However, with them not in the race anymore, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance will be one of the companies to watch out for in the e-auction to be held on Sunday, June 12.
In 2017, Amazon had purchased the bidding paper ahead of the auctions but decided not to contest for the same.
