Anderson, Harmeet, Milind named in USA's squad for Canada series
However, there was no spot for Unmukt Chand despite amassing over 1500 runs across three MiLC seasons
Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has been named in the USA’s squad for the five-match T20I series against Canada, starting on April 7 in Houston, Texas.
The 33-year-old last played for New Zealand in 2018 and will be making his first appearance for the USA, who are set to host and feature in the T20 World Cup in June.
Monank Patel will continue to captain USA, while Aaron Jones will be the vice-captain. Talking about Anderson, the all-rounder played 13 Tests, 49 ODIs and 31 T20Is for the Black Caps before moving his base to USA in 2020.
"With the ICC T20 World Cup looming, this series holds immense significance for our team. We have some new players coming into the squad, and these games will help us get the right combinations and prepare well for the World Cup,” Monank said in a USA Cricket statement.
Former India Under-19 spin-bowling all-rounder Harmeet Singh and former Delhi and RCB batter Milind Kumar have also been named in the squad. However, there was no spot for Unmukt Chand despite amassing over 1500 runs across three MiLC seasons.
The USA and Canada are part of Group A in the T20 World Cup alongside India, Ireland and Pakistan. The two teams will be involved in the tournament opener on June 2 in Dallas, Texas.
