Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday announced the signing of Australia's Andrew Tye as a replacement for injured England pacer Mark Wood for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Wood, who was signed by the new franchise for Rs 2 crore in the mega-auction, suffered an elbow injury during the first Test against West Indies which has ruled him out of the tournament.
The pacer, who played 32 T20Is for Australia and picked up 47 wickets, will join LSG for a price of Rs 1 crore.
Tye had previously represented Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Rajasthan Royals and played 27 IPL matches and claimed 40 wickets at an average of 21.8.
The right-arm pacer won the Purple Cap in the 2018 edition with Punjab with a haul of 24 wickets from 14 innings.
LSG will begin their IPL 2022 campaign on March 28 when they take on other new entrant Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
