After Ruturaj Gaikwad withdrew from his deal with county cricket club Yorkshire, another Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player failed to complete his county cricket assignment, leaving the stint mid-way.
Khaleel Ahmed, who had signed a two-month contract with Essex County Cricket Club, was not able to fulfil his commitment, leaving the deal mid-way due to personal reasons after playing just two First-Class games.
Had the 27-year-old completed his entire stint, he would have played at least six First-Class matches and 10 List-A matches for the county.
"While we are disappointed to see him leave, we fully support Khaleel's decision and are grateful for the contributions he made during his time with us,” Essex said in a statement on July 28 (Monday), as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Khaleel, who impressed as an India A bowler, secured the deal after his performance against the England Lions. While he is back home in Rajasthan, the left-arm pacer will most likely be seen in the Inter-Zonal Duleep Trophy tournament, which is set to get underway from August 28 onwards.
