Abhishek Sharma is showing what the future of T20 cricket will look like by smashing the leather off the ball as an opener in the ongoing Asia Cup. So good has the left-handed batter from Punjab been that 14-15 ball 30s are his bare minimum in the tournament.
The opener continued in the same vein against Bangladesh in the Super Four game in Dubai after being nine off nine deliveries at one stage, and still ended up completing his second consecutive half-century in the tournament, this time in just 25 deliveries. With this feat, he became only the second Indian, after Virat Kohli, to score two consecutive fifties in the Asia Cup.
Not only that, Abhishek smashed five sixes in his innings of 75 runs, and in the process, smashed his 17th six in the competition, making him the batter with the most sixes in a single edition of the Asia Cup. No Indian batter has scored as many in a multinational tournament either.
