It has been an interesting month as far as the India-Pakistan cricketing relationship is concerned. The men's teams had their fair share of controversies during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025, where players like Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan were reprimanded for their behaviour.
The trend is continuing in the Women's World Cup as well. This time, Pakistan Women batter Sidra Amin has been found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during their clash against India on October 5 (Sunday).
Amin played well to notch up 81 off 106, but her effort went in vain as she was dismissed by Sneh Rana in the 40th over as Pakistan fell short by 88 runs in pursuit of 248. After getting dismissed, Amin showed her frustration by hitting her bat on the pitch forcefully, inviting trouble.
She was accused of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.” Moreover, one demerit point was added to her record.
Pakistan have made a horrid start to the World Cup. They lost their tournament opener to Bangladesh by seven wickets and were then crushed by India in Colombo.
Like the men's teams, the women's teams also did not shake hands at the toss and at the end of the match.
