India have already beaten Pakistan twice in the Asia Cup 2025. A win for the third time on Sunday (September 28) will see them clinch the title. The Suryakumar-led side beat their arch-rival quite comfortably in the previous two matches, but can they do so once again in the final?
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram believes India will start as favourites but gives Pakistan hope by adding that anything can happen in a final.
"India is definitely the favourite, but anything can happen," Akram said, according to News 18.
“Pakistan must maintain confidence and momentum. They must believe in themselves and play smart cricket. If Pakistan takes early wickets, they can put India on the back foot. I hope the best team wins in the end," he added.
The previous two matches have not been short of controversies. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30% of his match fee for bringing up the Pahalgam terror attack in his post-match comments. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, too, was fined for controversial gestures, while batter Sahibzada Farhan was let go with a warning for his 'gun' celebration.
