The 2025 Andhra Premier League (APL) is proving to be an extremely fruitful tournament for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) youngster Shaik Rasheed, who today crossed the 50-run mark in consecutive innings.
Leading Royals of Rayalaseema, Rasheed scored a 33-ball 56 against Bhimavaram Bulls on August 10 (Sunday) and then today followed it up with a 47-ball 68 against Tungabhadra Warriors in Vizag. It was a captain’s knock from the 20-year-old as the Royals found themselves 48/3 inside the first six overs. However, he steadied the ship and produced a well-compiled 67, hitting four fours and two sixes.
Rasheed’s efforts helped the Royals reach 191/6 in what’s a must-win game for them, having lost their first two matches.
The youngster from Andhra made his IPL debut earlier this year for CSK, but struggled largely despite showing flashes of brilliance. He finished IPL 2025 with 71 runs in 5 matches, averaging 14.2 at a strike rate of 112.7. Despite a poor season, however, the 20-year-old is expected to be retained ahead of IPL 2026.
