Archer set to begin two-week rehabilitation after surgery

The England all-rounder is expected to miss at least four matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021

England fast bowler Jofra Archer undergoes surgery on his right hand is set to begin his two-week rehabilitation. A few glass pieces were removed from the middle finger of his right hand, which he injured while cleaning his home prior to the India tour. The injury is believed to be caused after he dropped a fish tank on his hand.

"England pace bowler Jofra Archer underwent successful surgery to his right hand on Monday. A fragment of glass was removed during the operation to his middle finger on his right hand," ECB said in a statement.

"He will now commence two weeks of rehabilitation. The consultant will review him before returning to training," it added.

The ECB also said that a further update on Archer's elbow injury will be provided once he returns to training to assess the effectiveness of his recent injection.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the England fast bowler will participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 but is most likely to miss at least four matches for Rajasthan Royals (RR). The Royals take on Punjab Kings in their first match on April 12 in Mumbai.

Archer flew back to the UK right after the T20 International (T20I) series against India. Archer played just two Tests, but played all five T20Is during his recent visit, finishing with seven wickets in the shortest format.
