Ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season, the sons of Indian cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid faced off in the ongoing Dr K. Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament in Bengaluru - and it was Arjun Tendulkar who came out on top.
Arjun, who plays domestic cricket for Goa, dismissed Samit Dravid for 9 off 26 balls. When Samit walked out to bat at No.5, KSCA Secretary’s XI were 91/3.
The 19-year-old batter managed a boundary off one of the first two deliveries against Arjun but was soon undone by the left-arm seamer, who claimed his wicket on the very next ball. Arjun also dismissed Karnataka batter Nikin Jose for an eight-ball duck.
Samit Dravid is yet to make his debut for Karnataka but has been named among the Ranji Trophy probables for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Arjun has already featured in 17 first-class matches for Goa, claiming 37 wickets at 33.51 and scoring 532 runs at 23.13, including one century and two fifties.
Karun Nair was another notable name in the match but failed to make an impact. The right-hander, who struggled in his recent Test series in England, was dismissed for just 3 off 21 balls. Nair is likely to be dropped from the Indian squad for the two-match home Test series against the West Indies next month.
