NEWSRavichandran Ashwin informed about his decision after Delhi Capitals' match against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Delhi Capitals’ premier off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has opted to take a break from the ongoing IPL season to be with his family during the testing times of Covid-19 pandemic unfurling in it’s second wave in India.Â
Ashwin informed about his decision on Sunday night, through a tweet after Delhi registered a win in the Super Over against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was Delhi’s last match in Chennai, Ashwin’s hometown, and he will stay back to support his family while the team will travel to Ahmedabad.Â
Ashwin’s absence is supposedly a big setback for Delhi’s campaign. However, the franchise has extended their full support to Ashwin’s decision.Â

Although Ashwin had picked only one wicket for Delhi in the five matches so far, he did lay his impact at crucial junctures for the team. An economy-rate of 7.7 vouches for his contribution.Â
Ashwin stated that he might rejoin the team if the situation improves.Â
On Sunday itself, India reported approximately 3.5 lakh new cases of coronavirus infection.Â
