Bumrah to miss Nepal's game due to personal reasons

The 29-year-old, however, is expected to be back for the Super Fours

India’s ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Mumbai due to personal reasons, not injury, and will miss Monday’s (September 4) game against Nepal. The 29-year-old, however, is expected to be back for the Super Fours of the 2023 Asia Cup.

Bumrah featured in India’s first clash against Pakistan but didn’t get to bowl a single delivery as the entire second innings was washed out. Bumrah did make an impact with the bat though, scoring 16 off 14 deliveries. He was India’s third-highest run-scorer in that game.

Bumrah was out of action for close to 11 months due to a back stress fracture and only made his return in the T20I series against Ireland last month. The right-arm quick hasn’t bowled a single delivery in the 50-over format since August 2022.

In Bumrah’s absence, India will bring in one of Prasidh Krishna or Mohammed Shami. Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj were the other two seamers in the XI against Pakistan.
