India and Australia are all set to engage in a five-match Test series from November 22. It will be a crucial series as it could very well determine which team will make it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final in June next year. Star batter Marus Labuschagne will be one of the key figures for Australia in the series, while from the Indian contingent, pacer Mohammed Siraj will have to play a crucial role if India are to register a series win over Australia five times in a row.
Labuschagne reveals that he has enjoyed his battles with Siraj in the past, having come up against him for the first time at the MRF Academy. "I enjoy my battles with Mohammed Siraj for many reasons," Labuschagne told Star Sports.
"We actually were at the academy in 2015-16. He was working with the MRF Academy and we played against each other. That's when I first met him."
Labuschagne also lauded the energy Siraj brings to the field. "He has got great passion, great energy, and a great love for the game. It's been nice [to see] our careers moving almost together from such experiences," the 30-year-old added.
Labuschagne, who played his 50th Test earlier this year, has scored over 4,000 runs in the format at an average of nearly 50 since making his debut in 2018. Siraj was India's most successful bowler in his debut series against Australia in 2020-21 with 13 scalps at 29.53 in three Tests.
