Australia pip India, New Zealand to go top of ICC Test rankings

The Pat Cummins-led side go to the summit at the back on an impressive 4-0 Ashes series win

Following an emphatic 4-0 Ashes series win over England, Australia go top of the ICC Test rankings, pipping both New Zealand and India to the summit. The Pat Cummins-led side, who registered wins in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart have accumulated 119 ranking points.

England managed to avoid a whitewash after they managed to hold on to a close draw in Sydney. This was Cummins' first series in charge of Australia, after Tim Paine had quit ahead of the series.

India, on the other hand, slipped to third spot with 116 points following their 2-1 loss against South Africa. New Zealand, who fought back to level the series 1-1 at home against Bangladesh have 117 points to their name and sit above India at second.

South Africa's win over India meant that they moved to fifth spot with 99 points, just two points below England who are in fourth while Pakistan slipped to sixth with 93 points.

With the emphatic series win, Australia have also moved to second in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table, having won 86.66% of the points available. Only Sri Lanka with 100% record are above them at the moment.
