Australia have extended their tour of Sri Lanka and have agreed to play an extra ODI to boost their preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Initially, the reigning World Champions were scheduled to play just one ODI on February 13, three days after the conclusion of the second Test in Galle. However, they will now be playing two ODIs, with the first game starting just two days after the conclusion of the Test series.
Both the ODIs will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and will be day games.
There will be eight days between the second ODI against Sri Lanka and Australia’s first Champions Trophy encounter against England in Lahore on February 22. Australia, who are in Group B alongside England, South Africa and Afghanistan, will play each of their three group games in Pakistan.
The Kangaroos announced their 15-man provisional squad for CT2025 last week and opted to leave out Jake Fraser-McGurk. Skipper Pat Cummins made the cut despite being an injury doubt for the event.
