Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni is one of the best batters in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but has had a tough time against Harshal Patel.
The wicketkeeper-batter, who is one of the few batters with more than 5000 runs in the IPL, has been dismissed by Harshal four times and has an average of just 6.3 against the right-arm seamer - Dhoni’s worst against any bowler in the tournament (at least 30 balls).
Playing his 400th T20, Dhoni walked out to bat in the 14th over against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 25 (Friday).
MSD scored just 6 runs before timing a short delivery from Harshal straight into the hands of Abhishek Sharma at backward point. Dhoni could only score one four in his 10-ball knock.
Only Zaheer Khan (7) and Pragyan Ojha (6) have dismissed Dhoni more times than Harshal in the IPL.
Harshal, who has a stunning record at Chepauk (15 wickets @ 8.53), finished with figures of 4/28 - his third-best IPL figures.
Thanks to Harshal’s four-wicket haul, SRH managed to bowl CSK out for 154 in 19.5 overs. This is only the third time CSK have been bowled out at Chepauk.
