Faf du Plessis missed Delhi Capitals (DC)’s last Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk, and it was KL Rahul who opened the innings alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk. The wicketkeeper-batter crafted 77 off 51 and helped DC defeat CSK by 25 runs.
Du Plessis, however, has recovered from his injury and is back for the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10 (Thursday).
So the question arises: where will Rahul bat against RCB?
Here’s what DC captain Axar Patel said at the toss: “We will take the call after the first innings. But we've decided on our order, and KL will bat in the middle-order.”
After hesitating a bit, Axar confirmed that Rahul will go back to the middle-order despite playing a stunning knock as an opener on a tricky Chepauk surface.
Rahul missed DC’s first game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) due to the first of his first child and made his return against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where he batted at No.4 and slammed 15 off 5.
It was DC who won the toss and decided to bowl first against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
