Follow UsPakistan's Babar Azam and Australia's Alyssa Healy have bagged the ICC Player of the Month awards for April 2021 following their record-breaking performances last month.
Azam led Pakistan to their second ODI series win in South Africa by scoring 228 runs from three matches, including a superb 94 from 82 balls in the deciding third ODI. He also moved to the top of the ICC ODI men’s batting rankings for the first time in his career by dethroning India's Virat Kohli.
He also scored the highest individual score by a Pakistan batter with his 122 runs off 59 balls in the third T20 against South Africa. On April 25, he became the fastest batter to score 2000 runs in men's T20Is. He reached the milestone in just 52 innings, four fewer than Kohli.
Azam, who previously topped the T20I men's rankings, is only the fourth Pakistani to reach the summit of the men's ODI batting charts after Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, and Mohammed Yousuf.
"I have also previously topped the T20I rankings, but the ultimate ambition and goal is to lead the Test rankings, which are the real testament and reward to a batsman's calibre, reputation, and skills," he said.
Australia's wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy was at her devastating best leading her team to an ODI series clean sweep against New Zealand with 155 runs from three matches at a strike rate of 98.72.
On April 7, Healy reached a unique milestone by becoming Australia's third women's player to play 200 international matches.
Healy was also among the four players to feature in Australia's 24 consecutive ODI victories under the captaincy of Meg Lanning - a successful run which broke the record of 21 consecutive ODI wins set by Ricky Ponting's team.
