Babar Azam finally ended his century drought, slamming one after 83 innings and 807 days. He slammed a match-winning 102* in the second One-Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on November 14 (Friday). The former Pakistan captain had scored a century before this in the Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal.
With this century, Babar has 32 international centuries, going past Pakistan legends Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad. He also breaks into the top five century getters for Pakistan across formats.
41 Younis Khan
39 Mohammad Yousuf
35 Inzamam-ul-Haq
32 Babar Azam
31 Saeed Anwar & Javed Miandad
Moreover, this was Babar's 20th century in ODI cricket and is on par with Anwar at the top of the list.
20 Babar Azam
20 Saeed Anwar
15 Mohammad Yousuf
11 Fakhar Zaman
11 Mohammad Hafeez
Incidentally, even Virat Kohli took 83 innings to end his century drought. The former India skipper failed to score a century from 2019 and 2022 until he slammed a ton against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2022.
Pakistan rode on Babar's century (102*) and fifties from Fakhar Zaman (78) and Mohammad Rizwan (51*) to claim an eight-wicket victory in pursuit of 289 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
