Babar ends Kohli's reign to become No. 1 ranked ODI batsman

The Pakistan captain is the fourth from his country to reach the summit of ODI rankings for batsmen

Pakistan captain Babar Azam topples Virat Kohli to become the No. 1 ranked batsman in One-Day Internationals (ODI). The India captain spent over three years - 1,258 days to be exact - at the top of the mountain, but Babar's impressive performances in the series against South Africa sees him go top. He also becomes the fourth Pakistan batsman after Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad and Mohammad Yousuf to go to the summit of the ODI batting rankings.

Prior to the series against South Africa, Babar had 837 ranking points, but at the end of it has secured 865 points, thanks to scores of 103, 31 and 94, which propelled him to the top. Kohli is eight points behind Babar in second position.

With a couple of centuries against South Africa, Fakhar Zaman registers career-best seventh position, while pacer Shaheen Afridi, moves to 11th in the ICC ODI bowlers rankings.  In the T20Is, Mohammad Rizwan jumped 24 places to 23rd position in the batting charts. Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Ali and Usman Qadir too made significant strides in the bowlers' list.

While Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1, there's all to play for in the T20Is, with the three-match series level at one game apiece.
