Bangladesh vs Scotland, ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Match 2: Fantasy Preview

Here are a few tips that might help you create your fantasy team for Match 2 of the ICC T20 World Cup between Bangladesh and Scotland in Oman

The second match of the ICC World T20 will feature Bangladesh taking on Scotland in an evening encounter on Sunday, 17th October at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman. Bangladesh will enter this high-voltage competition riding high on confidence after registering comprehensive series wins against Australia and New Zealand at home earlier this year.

On the other hand, despite their recent records, Scotland possesses plenty of firepower and will look to start the campaign positively in the world event. The two sides competed against each other once before this game back in 2012, with Scotland winning by 34 runs at Sportpark Westvliet in the Netherlands.

SUGGESTED TEAM

While you could go for the above team, you also have the option of choosing your team from Cricket.com’s Fantasy Research Centre. You can use this tool to build your team with the help of algorithms. Based on your preferences, the platform will guide you through creating the ideal fantasy XI.

GROUND DETAILS

In T20Is since 2020, there have been eight matches played at the Al Amerat ground (Ministry-1) and all of them were in a single tournament in February 2020. There were no International matches played and only two T20 matches were played between Sri Lanka and Oman in October. On an average, 148 runs have been scored in the first innings in Al Amerat. Teams batting first and chasing have won four matches apiece. There hasn’t been much difference between the pacers and spinners in T20Is since 2020 in Al Amerat. Just that, the spinners have had the slight upper hand. The pacers have bagged 43.8 percent of the wickets and spinners have picked up 49 percent. In rest of the aspects, both pacers and spinners have been neck-to-neck.

SUGGESTED CAPTAIN

Shakib Al Hasan

One of the integral members of the Bangladesh outfit, Shakib Al Hasan, will play a crucial role for the side in this opening encounter. With years of experience at the international level, the 34-year old has scored 1763 runs in 87 innings at a strike rate of 121.4. The all-rounder has been lethal with the ball scalping 106 wickets with best figures of 5/20 against West Indies in 2018. He will be the vital cog in the playing XI of the side and contribute with the bat and the ball to help Bangladesh get over the line.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Shakib to score 12-18 runs and pick up 0-1 wickets in this match.

X-FACTORS

Richie Berrington

The last time these two sides locked horns in a T20 international, Richie Berrington smashed a scintillating 100 off 56 deliveries studded with ten boundaries and five maximums. One of the most experienced members of the batting unit, the 34-year old will be a crucial player in the Scotland outfit heading into this iconic tournament. Coming in at number four, the right-handed batter scored 25 off 21 in the warm-up game against Namibia. The team management would rely on him to guide the team in the middle overs and give the side much-needed impetus in the back end of the innings.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Berrington to score 17-25 runs in this match.

Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman will shoulder the bulk of the responsibility of the bowling unit of the Bangladesh side in this mega event. The left-arm medium-pacer and Shakib were part of the recently concluded Indian Premier League and will come into this tournament with plenty of match exposure under their belt. With plenty of variations in his arsenal, the sluggish conditions on offer will suit his style of bowling, and Mustafizur will be one of the players to watch out for in the tournament.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Mustafizur to pick up 0-1 wickets in this match.

George Munsey

The left-handed opening batter has been in sublime form in the lead up to the World Cup and top-scored for the side with a destructive 67 off 41 deliveries against Namibia in their last game. The Scotland team management would be heavily reliant on him and skipper Kyle Coetzer to lay a solid foundation for the side at the top of the order. In this much-awaited opening encounter, Munsey will be one of the X factors for the Scotland team and will look to provide the team with a blazing start in the field restrictions.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Munsey to score 26-38 runs in this match.
