Bangladesh’s Zakir Hasan created unwanted history on Day 1 of the Kanpur Test against India as he registered the slowest-ever duck by an opener against India in Test cricket.
Zakir registered 0 off 24 balls, making it also the slowest-ever duck registered by any opening batter on Indian soil.

Zakir had a torrid time in the middle for 23 balls, predominantly being beaten on both edges by Jasprit Bumrah. Out of the left-hander’s first 20 balls, 18 were bowled by Bumrah, who induced a false shot percentage of 27.7% against the 26-year-old.
Akash Deep reaped the rewards for the pressure created by Bumrah as the Bengal speedster took only three deliveries to remove the left-handed opener. From ‘round the wicket, Akash Deep got Zakir to nick one to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who took a sharp diving catch at gully.
