Barbados Tridents vs St Lucia Zouks, CPL Match 19, Fantasy Preview

Here are a few tips and suggestions that might help you in creating your fantasy team for the 19th match of CPL 2020 between Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks

It is the penultimate match of 2020 CPL season at Queens Park Oval with Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks all set to lock horns. The Zouks are sitting pretty at 2nd spot with 8 points while defending champions, Tridents have struggled so far this season. In the last five matches between these two sides, the Tridents have won two games and the Zouks have won three. However, Tridents have had the upper-hand if we look at the overall scheme of things having won 10 out of the 15 matches played between the two sides in CPL.

HEAD TO HEAD

Overall: Matches – 15 | BT – 10 Wins | SLZ – 5 Wins

Last 5 matches: BT – 2 Wins | SLZ – 3 Wins

SUGGESTED TEAM

While you could go for the above team, you also have the option of choosing your own team from cricket.com Fantasy Research Centre. Based on algorithms we come up with six different team that could fetch crucial points.

GROUND DETAILS

The average first innings score at Port of Spain in CPL 2019 was around the 146 mark. That slowness seems to be continuing this time too.

The average scores suggest that it’s not been easy out there for batsmen at Queen’s Park Oval. They have scored only 19.1 runs per wicket in CPL 2020 with the bowlers managing a wicket every 17.5 balls. You should ideally pack as many spinners and spin bowling all-rounders in your side for this game as possible. Since 2019 in CPL, batsmen have scored at a strike rate of 122, which is the 2nd lowest at a venue.

TEAM COMBINATION

Though the Queen’s Park Oval surface was on the slower side in CPL 2019, the spinners did not have the level of success that they are having this time around.

In 12 innings, they have picked 58.6% of the wickets to fall so far this season striking every 16.8 deliveries as compared to pacers who have a strike rate of 20. The spinners have also maintained an excellent economy rate of 5.6 this season.

It has been the allrounders who have been turning up every game for both Zouks and Tridents. Mohammad Nabi and Roston Chase have been exceptional for Zouks and without any element of doubt, the two are must have players in the fantasy team.

Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers have done something similar for Tridents. While Mayers has scored over 150 runs and chipped in with few wickets, Holder has 116 runs to go with 4 wickets.

The batsmen from both sides have struggled. You could opt for the likes of Corey Anderson, Mark Deyal and Najibullah Zadran in your team. As far as the pacers go Scott Kuggeleijn and Kesrick Williams could be your choices.

There could be a few interesting match-ups too

COREY ANDERSON vs SCOTT KUGGELEIJN

Anderson has had his struggles against his Kiwi teammate Kuggeleijn in T20s. In the three innings he has faced the pacer, he has gotten out to him twice at an average of 4.0. How Anderson counters Kuggeleijn remains a question, especially with the form he is in.

JONATHAN CARTER vs KESRICK WILLIAMS

Jonathan Carter has been struggling this season and to add salt to the wound, his record against Williams isn’t great. In 3 innings, Williams has dismissed him twice with a strike rate of less than 100.

ANDRE FLETCHER vs RAYMON REIFER

Andre Fletcher’s record against Raymon Reifer in T20s is something that would build his confidence. Fletcher has scored 41 runs against the left-arm pacer at a strike rate of 205 without being dismissed even once.

SUGGESTED CAPTAIN

MOHAMMAD NABI: The star with the ball in Zouks’ match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Mohammad Nabi has had a fantastic CPL with 9 wickets so far.

What has stood out for him this year are his skills in the power play. Out of the nine wickets, 7 have come during overs 1-6, the most by any bowler in the phase. His economy of just 4.5 in the Power Play is truly remarkable

In addition, Nabi has also been more than useful with the bat having scored more than 100 runs in the season. The Afghan has risen with both bat and ball so far and is likely to help with a lot of point if he gets going against Tridents.

Our Criclytics Player Projection says, Nabi will score 9-26 runs and pick 0-3 wickets in Match 19 of CPL.

X-FACTOR

ROSTON CHASE: Chase alongside Nabi has been one of the key components for Zouks this year. He is the 3rd highest run-scorer in CPL 2020 so far and has a bowling average of 13.0, which is the 4th best among bowlers with 5 or more wickets. In six outings, Chase has excelled with either bat or ball every game. He has scored 156 runs at an average of 39 so far this season and has picked 5 wickets at a balls/dismissal ratio of 15.6.

Chase has proven extremely tough for any team to decipher. The Queens Park Oval surface will aid his off-spin while he has proven to be a more than useful bat all through the season. The numbers certainly suggest that Chase should be one of the first picks in your fantasy team.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts, Chase would score 11-28 runs and pick 0-1 wicket in Match 19 of CPL.

KYLE MAYERS: With all the batsmen falling around for Tridents, Kyle Mayers has been on a different league. The left-hander has scored 21.4% of the runs for Tridents this season. His 161 runs are the joint 2nd most in 2020 season of CPL alongside Evin Lewis. Mayers has also maintained a more than decent strike-rate of 132.

In addition, Mayers has bagged 4 wickets in this season. When a player is fetching points with both bat and ball, he is certainly an X-factor.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts, Mayers would score 5-22 runs and pick 0-1 wicket in Match 19 of CPL.

SCOTT KUGGELEIJN: Kuggeleijn is having an excellent debut season. The New Zealand fast bowler has picked up crucial wickets for his side at the top as well as back-end of the innings.

With 11 wickets, he is the joint second highest wicket taker and the best among pacers this season. He has taken those wickets at a balls/dismissal ratio of 10.5. Only Mujeeb ur Rahman has a better bowling strike rate among bowlers with 5 or more wickets.

The pacer’s early striking ability is a sure shot X-factor that can fetch points.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts, Kuggeleijn might pick 0-3 wickets against Tridents.
