Kiran Navgire, who last played for India in 2022, has smashed the fastest Women's T20 century, getting to the milestone off just 34 deliveries. The batter, who averages 5.66 in T20Is and a strike rate of 89.57 in six T20Is, achieved this feat in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy against Punjab on October 17 (Friday) in Nagpur.
Turning up for Maharashtra, she remained unbeaten on 106 off just 35 deliveries, helping her side chase down 111 with nine wickets and 12 overs to spare. Navgire beat New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine's record, who had smashed a 36-ball ton for Wellington Blaze in January 2021.
31-year-old Navgire, who has played 25 matches for the UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League (WPL), ended with a strike rate of 302.86 and became the first women's cricketer to score a ton with a strike rate in excess of 300. She hit as many as 14 fours and seven sixes during her record-breaking knock.
Deandra Dottin of the West Indies holds the record for the fastest century in Women's T20Is, scoring a 38-ball hundred against South Africa in 2010.
