South Africa limited-overs captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the four-match T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan. Bavuma injured his hamstring while batting in the third One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan at Centurion. In his absence, Heinrich Klaasen, who led the Proteas in the shortest format during their tour of Pakistan earlier this year, will lead the side once again.
Bavuma took over as South Africa limited-overs captain from Quinton de Kock ahead of the ODI series. While South Africa lost the series 2-1, they will be looking to bounce back in the T20Is beginning on Saturday (April 10)
The hosts will be without plenty of their star cricketers like Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and de Kock, who have opted to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which begins tonight (April 9). Opening batsman Reeze Hendricks has opted out of the series, following the birth of his first child on Tuesday (April 6). Rassie Van der Dussen, who missed the third ODI due to a muscle strain will be monitored over the course of the series.
The selectors have retained Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo, Daryn Dupavillon and Wiaan Mulder from the ODI squad.
