An unwanted incident on Day 3 of Bangladesh's one-off Test against Afghanistan saw the security personnel assault a journalist. The incident took place in the vicinity of the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The BCB has issued an apology while assuring a suspension against those involved for a period of one year. The BCB director, Ismail Haider Mallick reached the press box within an hour of the incident.
However, BCB are still identifying those involved in attacking Tasfiq Shahriar of the Cricfrenzy website.
Shahriar was waiting for a colleague to bring his accreditation card to grant him entry into the press box on Friday (June 16). Security personnel told him to stand across the street.
While Shahriar moved to the other side, one of the security personnel charged towards Shahriar and attacked him. The reporter was left with bruises on his nose and throat. Shahriar told that he was attacked by three to five security staff while he was talking to another journalist.
Mallik, the BCB director, has assured they will look into refining the behaviour of their security staff. This is one of the many security mishaps that has taken place between the stadium's security force and various mediapersons.
