BCB appoint Mohammad Salahuddin as senior assistant coach
In his possible first assignment, Salahuddin will assist the Bangladeshi team on their tour of West Indies which includes two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Mohammad Salahuddin as the senior assistant coach of the Bangladesh men's team. Salahuddin’s contract will run until March 15, in a similar vein with the head coach Phil Simmons, as confirmed by BCB on Tuesday (November 5). In his possible first assignment, Salahuddin will assist the Bangladeshi team on their tour of West Indies which includes two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.
Salahuddin has vast experience in coaching. He previously served the Bangladesh cricket team as an assistant and fielding coach from 2006 to 2010, under Dav Whatmore and Jamie Siddons. He was also a specialist coach in the BCB's national cricket academy from 2010 to 2011, after which he served as Singapore’s head coach in 2014 and elevated the team to the ICC World Cricket League Division 4.
Holding an ACC-Cricket Australia Level 3 accreditation, Salahuddin has also coached various Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League teams to title victories.
BCB president Faruque Ahmed has claimed Salahuddin’s appointment is a foundation to inculcate more local coaches into the system.
"When I took over as BCB president, I made a commitment to provide opportunities for deserving candidates to contribute to the national team set-up," Ahmed said.
"Salahuddin brings with him a wealth of experience, pedigree, and knowledge, making him the ideal candidate for this role. I firmly believe it is time to integrate more capable Bangladeshi coaches into the system,” he added on Salahuddin’s appointment.
