Earlier last week, Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returned home after the third ODI against South Africa, due to a family emergency.
While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not confirm whether the all-rounder would be available for the Test series until now, they stated that the 35-year-old won’t be part of the Test squad.
''He (Shakib) is not available for the second Test against South Africa,'' said Minhajul Abedin to Cricbuzz. ''He informed us that he will be going to the USA as he needs to set up his family there,'' he added.
Incidentally, during the three-match ODI series, the board had offered the all-rounder an opportunity to return home to be with his family. However, the all-rounder, then rejected the chance, stating that he wanted to be part of the setup for the third ODI, which was also appreciated by their skipper, Tamim Iqbal.
''It takes a very big heart to endure what Shakib is going through. Not many people could have done it. There would be nothing wrong to want to be with one's family in such a situation.”
