India’s apex cricketing board, BCCI, are eyeing to host the 2027 World Test Championship (WTC) final in India. Thus far, all three finals have been scheduled in England, with one each at Hampshire, The Oval and the Lord’s.
The reports added that BCCI’s proposal is set to be formalised at a later date, with IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal already having initiated discussions at the ICC's chief executives committee in Zimbabwe last month.
"If India reaches the next WTC final, then it will be a great spectacle for the fans. Even otherwise (if India does not feature in the final), a match involving two other top teams will have a lot of takers," a source close to the development indicated, reported India Today.
After reaching two consecutive finals, India were ousted from a third final on the back of a terrible home series against New Zealand and a disastrous Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 in Australia. The ongoing WTC cycle's final will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord's next month.
