KL Rahul has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2023 and is currently consulting a doctor in Mumbai, but his chances for the World Test Championship has taken a massive hit. As a matter of fact, Rahul faced an injury to his hip during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore while chasing the ball last Monday, and didn’t take part in the Wednesday clash against Chennai Super Kings.
With the World Test Championship just a month away, and Rahul being such an integral member of the squad for the event, having performed exceptionally well in difficult conditions of England and South Africa, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have handed the issue to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, who will take the next course of action as far as his recover is concerned.
Cricket.com understands that the BCCI are not in a hurry to make him ready for the WTC final, keeping an eye on his long-term recovery, having learnt their mistakes from the Jasprit Bumrah situation.
With Lucknow Super Giants now being in a firm position to make the playoffs, Rahul’s absence will be felt, but Krunal Pandya has been named his captaincy successor for the remainder of the IPL. His replacement hasn’t been named, though.
This is not the only injury case for Lucknow Super Giants though. Jaydev Unadkat has also been ruled out of the side for the remainder of the season. And the BCCI is keeping a close eye on his recovery process, for the Saurashtra pacer is a part of the WTC final squad.
