BCCI Removes Abhishek Nayar, T Dilip As Repercussions Of India's BGT Debacle: Reports

Along with the two, strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai has also been removed

Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach T Dilip have been shown the door by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), according to media reports published on April 17 (Wednesday).

Along with the two, strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai has also been removed, with the team looking for a new masseur for their next assignment, which will be a tour to England for a five-match Test series between June 20 and July 31.

“The BCCI took the decision on the back of the team’s performance in Australia, where they lost the Test series 1-3. Nayar, Dilip and Soham were informed about it last week. The Indian board will not have any new appointees as of now,” Indian Express wrote in a report, quoting a source close to the developments.

Nayar, who was brought into the set-up alongside Gautam Gambhir, as the two worked together for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, taking it to the title in 2024, didn’t even spend a year in his position.

T Dilip’s tenure came to an end in March 2025, while Adrian Le Roux will join the team as strength and conditioning coach, making it his second stint with the team after having worked under John Wright’s tenure as coach of the Men in Blue.

Sitanshu Kotak has already joined the Indian team as batting coach, which was Nayar’s role when he was appointed initially.
