The BCCI is reportedly set to hold talks with India head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar ahead of the second One-Day International (ODI) in Raipur against South Africa on December 3 (Wednesday), according to reports.
The meeting is to ensure that the BCCI and the team management are aligned with the strategies going forward, which has come under scrutiny following India's 2-0 Test series defeat at home against South Africa.
Other than Gambhir and Agarkar, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia are expected to be part of the meeting. There is no clarity over the attendance of BCCI president Mithun Manhas. Given that the meeting is scheduled on match day, veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma being part of it do not seem to be a possibility.
"During the home Test season, there have been instances of confusing tactics on and off the field. We want clarity and forward planning, especially with the next Test series eight months away," a BCCI official said, as per NDTV.
"India will be favourites to defend the T20 World Cup next year and strong contenders for the ODI World Cup after that, so we want these issues resolved quickly."
After a disappointing Test series, India bounced back with a 17-run win in the first ODI in Ranchi with Rohit and Kohli among the runs.
