BCCI’s Error Sparks Confusion As They Tag Sarfaraz Instead of Musheer On Scorecard
Musheer Khan made an early exit in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy opener against Jammu and Kashmir
Chaos was all around the place, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tagged Sarfaraz Khan instead of Musheer Khan on their scorecard, on October 15 (Wednesday). The incident happened during Mumbai's first Ranji Trophy 2025 clash of the season against Jammu and Kashmir in Round 1.
Musheer Khan opened the batting for Mumbai and bagged a three-ball duck in the clash, getting out to Aquib Nabi. However, given that this particular contest is not televised, and the only source of information was the BCCI’s scorecard, there was confusion.
BCCI had mistakenly tagged Musheer’s brother, Sarfaraz, a middle-order batter, as bagging a three-ball duck. It led to widespread confusion as the Indian batter usually bats in the middle-order, and has not previously opened for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
A few minutes later, the scorecard was rectified, as it now reflects Musheer Khan correctly as the opener. Mumbai were 86/3, at the time of this report, with CSK opener Ayush Mhatre (28 off 55) and Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 66) departing after a good start.
