Chasing a target of 220, Rajasthan Royals (RR) got to 100 in just 7.3 overs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 59 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 18 (Sunday).
This is the fastest RR have got to the 100-run mark in the IPL. Before this, Rajasthan had reached the 100-run mark in 7.4 overs twice - against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2023 and Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2025.
Overall, there are 15 more occasions when a team have reached 100 before 7.3 overs.
RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi went berserk from the very start of the innings. It all started with Jaiswal whacking Arshdeep Singh for four fours and a six in the first over. Arshdeep went for 22 runs - the most a PBKS bowler have conceded in the first over of the innings.
Suryavanshi then went after Marco Jansen, hitting him for 17 runs. The Royals were 67 for no loss at the end of four overs. They hit 14 boundaries in the first four overs - the second-most in IPL history. There was no strike rotation in the first four overs.
Suryavanshi got out to left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar in the fifth over after slamming 40 off 15 deliveries. However, that didn’t stop Jaiswal, who hit Jansen for two more boundaries in the final over of the powerplay.
RR were 89/1 at the end of six overs - their best powerplay score in IPL history. Their previous best also came this season, when they hammered 87/0 against GT.
It was RR captain Sanju Samson who hit Yuzvendra Chahal for a maximum in the third delivery of the seventh over to get his team past 100.
