After missing their respective first games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Matheesha Pathirana and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are back for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) respectively.
The two are featuring in the blockbuster CSK-RCB clash at Chepauk on March 28 (Friday). While Pathirana missed the game against Mumbai Indians (MI), Bhuvneshwar didn’t play against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to a minor injury.
Bhuvneshwar played one game for RCB during the 2009 Champions League but is making his IPL debut for the franchise. It’s been 5640 days since he played for RCB. Meanwhile, Pathirana has 34 wickets in 20 games for CSK.
Both RCB and CSK won their first game of the IPL 2025. RCB last defeated CSK in Chennai in 2008 and have lost eight games since then.
Coming to the toss, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first. Nathan Ellis (CSK) and Rasikh Dar Salam (RCB) are the ones to miss out.
