Happy Birthday, Bhuvneshwar Kumar!
The former India paceman, on February 5 (Wednesday), turned 34 ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Bhuvi was bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 10.75 crore.
Bhuvneshwar is already one of the top bowlers in the IPL and owns quite a few records. The upcoming edition will give him an opportunity to break more records, which are listed below:
The right-arm seamer has 181 wickets in the IPL, only behind Yuzvendra Chahal (205), Piyush Chawla (192) and Dwayne Bravo (183). Bhuvi needs just three more wickets to go past Bravo and become the leading pacer in the tournament.
Bravo has already retired from the IPL, while Chawla went unsold in the 2025 auction. Therefore, 12 more wickets and Bhuvneshwar will become the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL. And this could easily happen in the upcoming season.
Bhuvi has bowled 14 maidens in the IPL, and so has Praveen Kumar, which is the most in the history of the tournament. One more maiden and Bhuvneshwar will find himself at the top of the list.
Bhuvi, Jasprit Bumrah, James Faulkner and Jaydev Unadkat are the only four bowlers with two five-wicket hauls in the IPL. This season will give Bhuvi a chance to go one step above the rest of the trio. Bhuvneshwar also has two four-wicket hauls in the league.
