San Francisco Unicorns’ star batter Finn Allen has been ruled out of the remainder of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 with a foot injury, on July 9 (Wednesday). Not just that, the Kiwi opener will also subsequently miss New Zealand’s upcoming T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, a big blow to his international return.
However, the major damage will be for the Unicorns, who face MI New York in the Eliminator on July 9, as they will be without their best batter. Thus far in the season, Allen has smashed 333 runs for the Unicorns, averaging 37.00 whilst striking the ball at 225.
“Allen’s recovery timeline will be determined once he has returned to New Zealand and received further specialist consultations,” NZC’s press release stated.
Unicorns will also be without their star all-rounder, Romario Shepherd, as the Guyanese all-rounder is set to represent Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Global Super League. The RCB all-rounder scalped eight wickets in five innings for the franchise, and was a key contributor with the ball.
