NEWSThe BCCI Selection Committee has decided to award impressive young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi with a maiden India call-up for the T20 series against the West Indies while senior wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav also returned to the white ball set up after a knee surgery.
"Kuldeep Yadav is making a comeback and Ravi Bishnoi is the new face in the team for the West Indies series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
PTI further reported that pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been retained in the ODI squad and dropped for T20s while former skipper Virat Kohli will feature in both squads. It is understood that Kuldeep, who had lost his mojo in the Kohli-Ravi Shastri era, has been called back as the current team management and selectors feel that he has the x-factor to contribute to the team's cause.
He underwent knee surgery in September last year but his form has been a real cause of concern in the last three years, with the Uttar Pradesh spinner even falling from the grace as far as his IPL team is concerned. His position in the KKR set-up has been on and off, which he openly lambasted and later, he has been released by the franchise ahead of the 2022 mega auction.
On the other hand, Bishnoi has been terrific in the IPL and has made rapid strides in the IPL, by taking 24 wickets at an average of 25.25 and with an impressive economy rate of 6.97. But there is no news on the inclusion of M Shahrukh Khan even though the Tamil Nadu batter is in the form of his life.
