A bizarre incident occurred in the match in Hyderabad between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians where the number three batter Ishan Kishan walked back to the pavilion without being dismissed.
It was the first ball of the third over, bowled by Deepak Chahar. SRH had already lost Travis Head and were in dire need to have Kishan score some runs for them, as he has hardly scored runs after the century he scored in the first game of the season.
However, Kishan just tried to play a loose flick on a delivery going down the leg side, and thinking that he had edged the ball, he started walking back to the pavilion despite very stifled appeals from the Mumbai camp. Looking at him walking, the umpire also adjudged it as out, and MI skipper Hardik Pandya went and tapped his head, applauding him for showing the right spirit as a batter.
What shocked everyone soon was the fact that upon checking, there was no edge visible on the Ultra Edge as the ball passed his bat. In fact, the ball didn’t even hit his thigh pad which could have given the illusion of an edge. When Kishan saw this from the dressing room, all he could was blurt out an expletive in frustration.
