Boom Boom Is Back! Jasprit Bumrah Returns To Action For First Time Since BGT

It’s reason for celebration for fans of both Mumbai Indians (MI) and team India as Jasprit Bumrah is back for the first time since the fifth Test against Australia in the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), having successfully recovered from a back injury.

Bumrah went off the field during the second day of the Sydney Test against Australia, but has since been out of action due to flaring in the back, an injury that ruled him out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and the first four matches of MI’s IPL 2025 campaign. 

However, having been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team, Bumrah is immediately back into the playing 11 of Mumbai Indians, who have lost three of their first four matches in IPL 2025. 

Bumrah is not the only big player that returns as Rohit Sharma is also back. Rohit missed the clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which MI lost by 12 runs, due to a knock that he took on the knee prior to the game. Bumrah comes into the XI in place of left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar, while Rohit returns to the side in place of Raj Bawa, who neither bowled nor batted in the clash against LSG.

Skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl against an unchanged Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) side.
