Delhi Capitals' Jake Fraser-McGurk breaks barren run with highest T20 score
In a must-win clash for the Renegades, Fraser-McGurk obliterated the Brisbane bowlers to finish with 95 off 46 balls
After going 12 consecutive innings without crossing the 30-run mark, Australia and Delhi Capitals batter Jake Fraser-McGurk soared back to form in the clash against Brisbane Heat on January 18 (Saturday), posting his highest-ever score in T20 cricket.
In a must-win clash for the Renegades, Fraser-McGurk obliterated the Brisbane bowlers to finish with 95 off 46 balls. He went past his previous best T20 score of 84, which had come against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Delhi in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
This was a much, much-needed knock for the youngster, who last week got left out of Australia’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
Across his previous nine knocks in the 2024/25 Big Bash League (BBL), the right-hander had scored just 93 runs at an average of 10.33. In fact, he had been horribly out of form for a long while, averaging 12.48 in 23 innings post IPL 2024, crossing the 50-run mark just once.
But with his side’s back against the wall, the 22-year-old managed to find his best cricket. He hit five fours and eight massive sixes en route to a 46-ball 95 to help Renegades chase 197 with two overs to spare.
Had he got to three figures, it would have been Fraser-McGurk’s first-ever hundred in the shortest format. The 22-year-old, who had a scarcely believable showing in IPL 2024, was purchased by DC for INR 9 cr at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Should the Renegades not qualify for the playoffs, he will fly straight to Dubai to play for Dubai Capitals in ILT20 2025.
