'Bro, Now Go Rest Please' - Akash Deep Reveals His Sledge To Ben Duckett At The Oval

Overall, Akash Deep dismissed Duckett thrice in the series, maintaining an average of 17

The fascinating Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England was decided on the very final day of the series, and it was a series filled with several interesting subplots.

One such was the battle between India’s Akash Deep and England’s Ben Duckett, which seemed to have reached a tipping point in the first innings of the fifth Test at The Oval, where Akash Deep put his arm around Duckett after dismissing him.

The Indian speedster’s gesture was considered disrespectful by many, including Indian fans, but all this while, nobody had been aware of what had actually been said between the two. In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, the 28-year-old spilled the beans.

"He [Duckett] had been out four-five times to me. Before coming out to bat in that innings, he said, 'this time you won't get me out'. I got him out and then said, 'bro, now go and rest please'," Akash Deep told ESPNCricinfo.

In that particular knock, Duckett had rattled the right-armer with some audacious strokeplay — scoops and reverse-scoops — and had collected 25 runs off 24 balls off him before the dismissal. But Akash Deep struck back and gave 'that' infamous send-off.

Overall, Akash Deep dismissed Duckett thrice in the series, maintaining an average of 17 against the left-handed opener.
